DENTAL CROWNS AND BRIDGES NORTH PALM BEACH

Among the most effective and most predictable  of the high-quality restorative options  available  are dental crowns. At our North Palm Beach dental practice, we custom craft our dental crowns from the finest materials to ensure their longevity and aesthetic appeal. If the health of one or more of your teeth has been compromised, either from disease, decay, or trauma, a dental crown may be a good choice for you.

What is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a replacement for a tooth, commonly referred to as a “cap”.

There are a number of reasons why a dental crown would be recommended:

  • If the tooth has a large and defective filling
  • If the tooth has big cavity.
  • If the tooth had a root canal.
  • If your existing crown has decay underneath it.
  • Esthetics. Crowns are used also to improve the esthetics of a single tooth or many teeth.

WHAT IS A DENTAL CROWN MADE OF?

Crown can be made from several  materials each of which may be indicated for different situations:

  • All ceramic (no metal)
  • Porcelain fused to metal (either gold or zirconia  with porcelain layering)
  • Gold

THE PROCEDURE

How Long does it take?

Utilizing best local dental labs who are  fabricating all our dental prosthetics, the benefits for the patient are huge  since the decreased turnaround while ensuring superior-quality results.

During the first visit an impression of the mouth is made, allowing for optimal placement and ensure the cap will fit comfortably yet snugly between existing teeth.

If needed, the affected tooth may be modified to allow room for the crown. A custom temporary crown is placed on the tooth while the final crown is being manufactured.

During the second visit the crown is placed, it is secured with dental cement for optimal functionality and longevity.

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A DENTAL CROWN?

Dental crowns are a suitable option to address a wide range of dental concerns.  During a consultation , you can learn more about whether you are a good candidate for the treatment and if a dental crown can serve your unique dental needs.

Does a tooth needs a root canal before the crown is made?

Usually No!

If the remaining tooth is healthy without any infection in the nerve ,root canal is not needed.

The opposite is most of the time correct. Many of the root canal treated teeth need crowns to protect and strengthen the remaining tooth structure.

Dental crowns preserve and protect your oral health, while improving your confidence in your smile. For more information on dental crowns at our North Palm Beach practice and to book an examination, email us today or call (561)881-0067.
